Q: How will your program prepare me to be a financial planner?
A: The Financial Planner Program at Sacred Heart University is registered with Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board). As a CFP Board-Registered Program, our courses satisfy CFP Board's education requirement, allowing an individual to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.

Education
To take the CFP® Certification Examination, students will need to be knowledgeable in CFP Board's financial planning topics. Beginning in 2007, candidates for certification must have a bachelor's degree, in any discipline, in order to obtain CFP® certification. The college degree requirement is a condition of initial certification; it is not a requirement to be eligible to take the CFP® Certification Examination and does not have to occur before sitting for the exam or fulfilling the work experience.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame logo), in the US, which it awards to individuals who successfully complete initial and ongoing certification requirements.

Sacred Heart University does not certify individuals to use the CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame logo), marks. CFP certification is granted solely by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. to individuals who, in addition to completing an educational requirement such as this CFP Board-Registered Program, have met ethics, experience and examination requirements.
