STUDENTS - STEPS TO GET STARTED

ALREADY REGISTERED? Click HERE to log in to your eRecruiting account!

Our office can assist you in selecting a major, determining your career focus, finding a summer internship or part-time job, finding a full-time job or applying for graduate school. Below are a few easy steps to get you started with our office regardless of the type of assistance you need:

  1. Register with our office by visiting http://shu.erecruiting.com and clicking "Create account" (at the bottom of the "Students" section). In addition to registering you with our office, you will be creating your eRecruiting account. eRecruiting gives access to our internship & job postings, online calendar of events and workshops, and career resources. In addition, you can view and register for events on our Career Center Calendar (including workshops and practice exams).

  2. Create a resume.  If you are still in the process of determining a major, you may not need to do this right away. However, your resume must be approved by a Career Development staff member in order for you to apply for internships and jobs.  In order to achieve resume approval, you will first need to attend a Resume Building Workshop. Check the Event and Workshop Schedule for workshop dates. All resume workshops are held in 213 Curtis Hall and run for approximately 45 minutes – advanced sign-up is not required.  Once you have attended a workshop, you will work individually with a Career Development staff member to perfect and approve your resume.  If you are unable to attend a workshop, please email Careerdev@sacredheart.edu and request to meet with a staff member individually for resume assistance (include your major and class year in the text of the email).

  3. Prepare for interviews. Interviewing preparation is extremely important for students' success in the internship/full-time job/graduate school search processes.  The Office of Career Development holds multiple Interviewing Skill Workshops per week in 215 Curtis Hall.  All Interviewing Skills Workshops take place in 215 Curtis Hall and run for approximately 1 hour.  Advanced sign-up is not necessary.  If you are unable to attend a workshop, please email Careerdev@sacredheart.edu and request to meet with a staff member individually for interviewing assistance (please include your major and class year in the text of the email).

  4. Set up an appointment with your counselor. Meet with a Career Development staff member to discuss your current and future career plans, address any questions or concerns about your internship and/or full-time job search, discuss the graduate school application process, etc.  Please email Careerdev@sacredheart.edu to request an appointment with a staff member about these and any other career-related topics (please include your major, class year, and reason for your appointment request so that we may assist you as efficiently as possible).

  5. Let us know how we can help you!  Email Careerdev@sacredheart.edu, call (203) 371-7975, or stop by 215 Curtis Hall to see us!
