WORKING WITH IMAGES
While current and engaging content is the most important element of any website, images add a creative and personal touch to our messages. With our content management system, uploading, inserting and linking to images is quick and simple. Follow these steps within the content management system and you will be on your way to creating captivating web pages:

          Uploading Images to the System

  1. All images must be compressed (resolution should be 72 dpi) and saved as either a .jpg or .gif files before they are uploaded to the Image Tree.   You must have photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Picture Manager to do this.  If you do not have photo editing software, feel free to contact the WCM office for assistance.
  2. From the “select item” drop down menu in top left corner, choose “images” to open up the image tree.
  3. Click on your image category and select “create image”. Once the image properties box appears, type in your image title to name your image. Add an image caption if you desire. Image captions appear as an “alt tag” on the front end of the website when a user places their mouse over the image. The copyright field can be used interchangeably with the image caption field to add an “alt tag” as well. Next click on the browse button and locate your image on your computer. Once you double click on the image file the image path will appear in the “upload new image” field. Lastly click “save image” at the top left of the box. Your image will now appear in the image tree under the category you created it in. Now your image can be inserted or linked to anywhere within your web pages.

    Inserting Images on a Page

  4. From the “select item” drop down menu in the top left corner of the screen, select “pages” to open up your page tree. Open up the page you wish to add your image to by clicking on the page and selecting “edit item”.
  5. From the “select item” drop down menu, open the image tree again.  Now you will have the page you want to insert the image on the right side of your screen and the list of images on the left side of your screen.
  6. Place your cursor in front of the paragraph of text you wish to have your image appear.  Then click on image name from the list on the left and select “insert image”.

    Aligning Images on a Page

  7. You can align your image to the left/right/center/top/bottom of page, add spacing around the image and/or add a border around the image. To do this, double click on the image once it is inserted into the content area. A detail box will appear with the fields to edit. To place a thin black border around the image, type a number 1 in the border field. To add spacing around the image, try placing a number 10 in the hspace and vspace fields (you can play with this number until you are satisfied with the way your image wraps around your text). Select right or left from the align field. Then click OK to save your image.
  8. To create a link to an image within the content area of a page, edit the page you wish to add the link to. Choose “images” from the “select item” drop down on top left of screen.
  9. Highlight the text on the page you wish to create a link to, and click on the name of the image in the image tree and select “create link”. Please note: always select new window for the target when linking to an image. Once the image is inserted into the content area, highlight the link again and click on the hyperlink icon in the toolbar. Select “new window” as the target.
