Position Title: Graduate Assistant  for the Council of Graduate Students

Job Description: Job Qualifications:

The Graduate Assistant (GA) works along with the Council of Graduate Students and supports them with their administrative duties and day-to-day functions as an organization.  The GA attends monthly meetings with the Council, plans and organizes events throughout the year, helps make decisions regarding funding for other graduate programs to benefit graduate students, publishes a quarterly newsletter, and tracks the COGS budget.

Specific details of the job include:

·         Taking minutes at monthly meetings

·         Emailing meeting minutes and other reminders to council members

·         Reserving facilities on campus for various events (ex. meetings, dinner nights)

·         Ordering catering services for various on campus events

·         Tracking the COGS budget and processing appropriate paperwork

·         Attending various Council events throughout the year

·         Organizing and planning the annual Spring Dinner Dance

·         Publishing a newsletter two times each semester

·         Assisting the Council in any other tasks as needed

Employment Period: August 20, 2008 – May 20, 2009 (20 hours per week)

·         Renewal for the Spring 2009 semester will be based on a satisfactory performance during the Fall 2008 semester.

                                        

Compensation package:

Stipend:  $10,000.00

Health Insurance: $353.00

Total Compensation for Position: $10,353.00 for academic year
