Area of Specialization: Ecology and Evolution

Description of Research Interest:  
Dr. Mattei has a wide range of interest in population ecology, restoration, and conservation.  Her three main areas of research are: 
1.)  The restoration and conservation of urban and suburban forest ecosystems; currently collaboration with Dr. Beekey and the CT Audubon Society on a coastal restoration project at Stratford Point in Stratford, CT. 
2.)  The population ecology and conservation of the Long Island Sound Horseshoe Crab (Limulus polyphemus) also in collaboration with Dr. Beekey.
3.)  The ecology and evolution of herbivorous insects and the control of invasive plant species.
