Area of Specialization:  Vertebrate Zoology/Ecology 

Description of Research Interest:
My current research centers around three major themes: 

  • Evaluation of ecological determinants of alpha diversity, geographic distribution, and niche segregation in tropical amphibians and reptiles with an emphasis on Central American and tropical West African species.
  • Role of environmental factors influencing larval development and fecundity of New World amphibians and implications of these factors on the global decline of amphibian populations.
  • Development of a Species Survival Program for the critically endangered Central American Harlequin Toad, Atelopus varius.
