Description of Research Interest: My primary research goal is to better understand how DNA repair pathways protect the genome against DNA damage induced by environmental mutagens. Currently, my laboratory is investigating the role of bacterial DNA mismatch repair in preventing mutations induced by sodium nitrite, a widely used meat preservative and a known mutagen.
