Each student in the John F. Welch College of Business is assigned an academic advisor based on the student's business major. Advisors, who are all full-time professors, are familiar with both the university and John F. Welch College of Business curriculum requirements as well as the courses in the student's area of interest. Advisors assist students in developing their program of study and suggest courses that will match students' interests, needs and future plans. In addition, advisors can help students explore issues of course load balance and appropriate course sequencing.

**Students are required to meet with their advisor prior to registering for courses. To take full advantage of the advisement session students should make an appointment with their advisor well in advance of their assigned registration time and should identify preliminary course choices and workable schedules. After this session the advisor will enable a student to register online or in person.

Advisors are also available to offer advice related to a career or graduate study in their discipline. Advisors can serve as an important resource for students seeking to make the most of their academic experience at Sacred Heart University.
