Thomas D. Corrigan, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Economics and Finance, earned his BS and MS degrees from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. Since arriving at Sacred Heart University in 1986, Dr. Corrigan has served as MBA Director, faculty chair, AACSB coordinator, and Director of Research for the John F. Welch College of Business.
Dr. Corrigan teaches an array of Economics and Finance courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has also taught in the Luxembourg MBA program, traveling to that country 10 times over the past 12 years. Dr. Corrigan's research interests are in the areas of Personal Finance and the Balanced Scorecard in the Finance discipline. He has also published articles on financial market developments in emerging countries. His more recent projects include studies on the Phillips curve and on the relationship between import prices and overall inflation. In addition, Dr. Corrigan has contributed a chapter to a forthcoming book on the state of Connecticut.
Prior to joining SHU, Dr. Corrigan spent 17 years in the corporate environment, including the position of Chief Economist for International Paper Company. Earlier in his career he was employed as a senior economist for Merrill Lynch and as Director of Domestic Economics for Marine Midland Bank. Currently, Dr. Corrigan is a consultant and strategist for Gallatin & Co., an investment management firm.
