APPLICATION INFORMATION
Wednesday, November 16, 2011:  Your application and two references are due.  Please mail or drop off your references to Karen Flanagan, Counseling Center, Park Avenue House.

Interviews will be scheduled for candidates via e-mail once their applications and references are received. 

S.W.E.E.T. PEER EDUCATOR QUALIFICATIONS, including but not limited to:

  • Academic success at SHU measured by a GPA of 2.5 or above
  • Creativity
  • Energy
  • Positive attitude
  • Dependability and reliability
  • Sensitivity to and interest in issues of alcohol and other drugs as well as additional wellness issues
  • Open minded, non-judgmental
  • Good listening and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills in one-on-one and in group settings
  • Ability to interact and present information to students and the community at SHU
  • Honest desire to help others
  • Commitment to making healthy lifestyle choices and role modeling those choices

PEER EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Peer Educators will serve for the full academic year
  • Plan and run programs, events, and campaigns
  • Provide information and resources to students
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and outreach
  • Make presentations to various groups and organizations on campus
  • Participate in on-going evaluation of the Peer Educator experience
  • Attend training sessions, in-services and weekly meetings
  • Communicate with advisor throughout the year
