NFL SUPERSTAR TIKI BARBER TO SPEAK AT SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Tiki Barber, starting running back for the New York Giants, will speak at Sacred Heart University on Tuesday, February 28, at 7 p.m. The event, “In Pursuit of Excellence: Leadership, Determination and Teamwork,” will take place in the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts on the Fairfield campus. Tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for faculty and staff, and $1 for Sacred Heart University students.

Born premature and suffering from febrile seizures as a toddler, Barber was told he could never play contact sports. But he used the fierce determination passed on to him by his mother, a breast cancer survivor and single parent, to shine both academically and athletically. He excelled at the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce while becoming a star of the university's football team.

Barber speaks not only about his path to an amazing NFL career, but also about responsibility and accountability. He reveals the effects that business leaders and CEOs can have on today's youth through taking the time to educate them and show them what it takes to succeed. He stresses the importance of teamwork, determination and humility in creating success in life or in business.

This event is part of Sacred Heart University's Student Affairs 2005-2006 Lecture Series. Tickets can be purchased by calling Sacred Heart University Student Life department at 203-371-7846.
