Hema Gopalakrishnan, Ph.D.

Education: Ph.D., University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; MS, Marquette University; M.Sc., B.Sc., Bombay University

Research Interests:
Noncommutative Ring Theory with specialization in Semigroup Rings; Mathematics Education.

Courses Usually Taught:
Elementary Statistics, Modern College Mathematics, Precalculus, Calculus for Decision Making, Calculus I, II & III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and Abstract Algebra.

Biography:
Dr. Gopalakrishnan has been teaching at Sacred Heart University as assistant professor since fall 2000. Her previous teaching experience was at Texas A&M University where she taught large lecture courses as well as small upper level undergraduate classes. Her pedagogical interests focus on cooperative learning and the integration of technology into the mathematics curriculum. She is interested in involving students in undergraduate research in mathematics and is excited about the senior seminar which is a new requirement for the major.
