Karen Flanagan, MA, LPC
Peer Education Coordinator
Karen began her professional relationship with Sacred Heart University's Counseling Center in 1999. She joined the staff as a Personal Counselor following completion of the Counseling Psychology Program at Boston College's Graduate School of Education and several years of experience with adolescents in university, community agency, and residential treatment settings. Karen’s interest in wellness promotion, college student identity development, successful transition to a campus environment, and healthy lifestyle choices made her a perfect candidate for the role of Peer Education Coordinator. Karen supervises s.w.e.e.t. (student wellness education and empowerment team), a group of volunteer peer educators who offer programming and resources on a variety on wellness issues. She is a member of the Alcohol and other Drug Coalition on campus, and is available to present workshops on Stress Management, Harm Reduction, Bystander Intervention, and Creating a Positive Culture on Campus.
