About the Matthew R. Dalling Irish Cultural Studies Endowed Scholarship
The Matthew R. Dalling Irish Cultural Studies Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established to honor Matthew's legacy at Sacred Heart University. Matthew studied abroad at SHU's campus in Dingle, Ireland, acquiring a wonderful cultural perspective and making numerous meaningful relationships. The experience had a profound impact on Matthew's life and his family has set up this fund to help advance the “SHU in Dingle” program and assist future students in partaking in this experience which was so important to Matthew.
To be eligible for the scholarship(s), candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a continuing undergraduate student enrolled full-time in the University;
- Submit an application for consideration through the Study Abroad Office;
- Be accepted into the Study Abroad program for the academic year;
- Demonstrate financial need; and
- Meet any other criteria as established by the Study Abroad Office Advisory Board
From those candidates that meet the criteria cited above, each academic year recipient(s) will be selected to receive a $500 scholarship awards to be applied towards their Ireland Study Abroad tuition and fees. The number of scholarships awarded will be based on the amount of funds available for expenditure.
These scholarships are not intended to be renewable to prior recipients so as to maximize the number of students that can benefit from the SHU in Ireland experience. Renewal applications shall be considered only if there is remaining funds available for expenditure after all first-time applications have been processed and denied.
