It’s an exciting time to be at Sacred Heart University as we are experiencing unprecedented growth. We have more than 8,500 undergraduate and graduate students, and we are adding more programs and buildings than ever before in our history. Construction is currently underway on our new Center for Healthcare Education and our Upper Quad residential village.
Recently we announced that we are purchasing the former global headquarters of GE—a transformational move for us that will allow us to develop an innovation campus. We hope that this site will not only house our new School of Computing, STEM programs, Farrington College of Education and parts of the Jack Welch College of business, but will also allow for incubator space that where students, in conjunction with investors and area businesses, will develop their creative ideas for new products and programs.
Despite all the growth, our core remains the same: we are steadfastly committed to providing students with new educational experiences and real-world opportunities to serve, grow and prosper in their faith and in our world. This core provides the foundation for all the success we are now seeing.
The Princeton Review includes SHU in its guides Best 381 Colleges – 2017 Edition, “Best in the Northeast” and Best 294 Business Schools–2017 Edition. U.S.News & World Report ranks SHU among the best master’s universities in the North in its “Best Colleges 2017” publication. The Chronicle of Higher Education also names SHU one of the fastest-growing Roman Catholic universities in its 2016 almanac—just to name the most recent accolades we have received.
None of these accomplishments are possible without the generous support of our donors. On behalf of all of us at SHU, I am proud to thank – and honor – every donor. I would also like to especially thank the Forever Pioneers, our student philanthropy group, for continuing to raise record amounts of money toward student scholarships, academic colleges and other programs.
I invite you to browse the 2015-2016 Donor Report and meet some of the dedicated students whose hard work bring such spirit into our campus. They quite eloquently explain how your gifts help them and their fellow students realize their dreams. Your generosity is evident wherever you look on our growing and vibrant campus.
From everyone in the Pioneer community, many thanks for another incredibly successful fundraising year.
