Credit will be awarded for courses that carry a grade of C or better and that parallel Sacred Heart University offerings. The University reserves the right to examine selected courses to determine whether or not their content and quality fit the University's purpose and goals. Sacred Heart University will accept a maximum of 66 credits from two-year colleges and 90 credits from four-year institutions.
SHU has transfer agreements with many community colleges. These agreements list courses that meet Sacred Heart University general education categories and other core requirements, SHU course equivalents, and all transferable courses.
Please note: Transfer students under this system must complete at least 60 credits for a bachelor's degree or 30 credits for an associate's degree at Sacred Heart University to be eligible to graduate with an honors designation.
The University will grant 45 credits in the appropriate curriculum areas to those students who have a RN diploma from an accredited institution. This is not applicable toward the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, but can be applied to another major area.
Sacred Heart University accepts certain courses from the American Institute of Banking (AIB) and applies them, as appropriate, to the associate's degree programs in Accounting and Business and to baccalaureate degree programs in Accounting, Business Administration and Finance.
A matriculated student called to active duty while enrolled in the University may request a military leave of absence. Students are eligible to return within one year following active duty with the same academic status he or she had when last in attendance. However, the degree requirements may have changed and the student may be required to comply with degree program requirements in effect at the time of their return to the University.
