Blackboard Tips/FAQ’s for Students

  1. Log into the Blackboard/MySHU System.
  2. Click the My Courses tab.
  3. If you are registered for courses and your instructor has made the Blackboard course available, your courses will be listed on this page.
  4. Click on the course to enter.
  • Registering for a course through the Registrar's office does not guarantee that you will have access to the  Blackboard portion of the course. Courses do not appear automatically in the Blackboard System. The instructor of the course has to make the course available to the students in the course.
  • Not all instructors utilize Blackboard. Your instructor should inform you if he or she is using the Blackboard system.
  • If you believe that a course should be listed on this page but you don't see it, please speak to your instructor prior to using the Blackboard Problem/Support form.
  • If you have recently registered for a class the information will update to the Blackboard System after 24 hours.

Note: If you are registered and waited 24 hours please contact the SHU Call center at 1-866-365-7575 or launch a ticket online.

Access to the Blackboard System is granted to registered students of the current semester.

  • Did you change your password? There is a network policy in place requiring all users to change their password every 180 days.

Generally you will have six (6) weeks into the next major semester to finish an incomplete.  Courses remain active for 6 weeks into the next semester and students can continue to view the course (unless the instructor has made the course unavailable).  Instructors and students with extended incompletes are encouraged to work out alternative methods.
