Bjerke is a Clinical Associate Professor in the department of Exercise Science, at the College of Health Professions. Bjerke teaches Exercise Science and Health Sciences courses at SHU. An active and enthusiastic Digital Pedagogue, Bjerke has designed and delivered blended and online courses. Her innovative pedagogical practices have included – creating video-based teaching micro-lectures using Echo 360 and Office Mix, designing online feedback strategies on the Blackboard LMS, integrating mapping tools into assessments, modeling annotation using Videoant, and building supplementary resource materials using Tackk.
Bjerke attended the 2014 Digital Learning Summer Institute, and later served as a facilitator at the 2015 Summer Institute. Based on these experiences, she has continued to explore emerging pedagogies for traditional lecture and lab contexts. As part of her service, Bjerke has spearheaded faculty development initiatives at CHP by organizing several workshop sessions. In the last three years, Bjerke has run several University-wide workshops for the Office of Digital Learning including Strengthening instructor presence using the Blackboard LMS and achieving Digital Balance.
When working with the Office of Digital Learning as a Faculty Fellow in 2017-2018, Bjerke will make contributions in these areas– faculty training and mentoring, outreach to faculty, materials development, and the scholarship of teaching and learning using evidence-based practices. We hope that you will see Prof. Bjerke as a valuable resource and peer-mentor for your teaching and learning applications in the classroom.
