Danielle Pannese '01

Danielle PanneseDr. Danielle Pannese’s relationship with Sacred Heart University started long before she was a student. Danielle’s father, Danny Pannese ’75, has been teaching accounting and tax courses at Sacred Heart for over thirty years. Growing up in Trumbull, Danielle has fond memories of visiting her dad on campus: “I basically grew up in the shadows of SHU. I would come visit my dad at his office and walk the hallways. I would attend basketball games in the old gym when Sacred Heart was mainly one building.” When it came time to decide on a college, Danielle chose SHU, the school she knew so well. “Even though I lived right around the corner, I begged and pleaded with my father to be able to live on campus. My pleading worked and at the end of August in 1997 I moved into the freshman dorm.”

Danielle graduated in 2001 with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She went on to attend New York University College of Dentistry and graduated in 2005 with a doctorate of Dental Surgery. Danielle fondly remembers the teachers at Sacred Heart who motivated her to further her education. “I remember taking Dr. Babu George’s classes. He was so devoted that he held extra help classes on Saturdays to make sure we understood the basic principles of Organic Chemistry. I was also fortunate to study under Dr. FarberDr. Snetsinger, Dr. Green, Dr. Kinick, and Dr. Lilly. Sacred Heart taught me to think independently and have confidence in my decisions.”

Danielle’s practice, Dr. Dani Dental, is located in Fairfield and focuses on family and cosmetic dentistry. She also provides care for the underprivileged at Southwest Community Health Center in Bridgeport. Danielle’s commitment to community service was strengthened during her time at Sacred Heart. “SHU offered many outlets to community service, activities, and social clubs. I learned the importance of service to the community in college.” Danielle is now giving back to her SHU community by offering a discounted rate at her practice for Sacred Heart alumni, faculty, staff, and students. “It is my pleasure. The Sacred Heart family is unique and I feel privileged to be a part of it.”

Unsurprisingly, Danielle’s connection to SHU did not end at her graduation. “As the years have passed on, I have returned to watch my brother, Chris, graduate in 2006 and my sister, Ashley, graduate in 2011. I was recently married by Father Gerry Ryle in the beautiful Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Sacred Heart has provided my family with incredible opportunities. It has given me the foundation to succeed and the University will always hold a special place in my heart.”
