"Being a part of the SHU community is almost like being a part of a big family! It is certainly a culture where each person is celebrated as an individual for his or her contributions. Whether it is professors, faculty and staff or your fellow students, it seems that everyone wants you to succeed. You feel that you are a part of something bigger, and you are valued! It's found even in the smallest details. For example, wherever you go on campus, you are greeted with a smile, and you can expect the door will always be held for you.
After graduating, I want to become a human resource manager. At SHU, I am a management major, with a human resource minor. This combination has helped me tremendously, as I have been able to learn the fundamentals of HR from professors who are experienced professionals in the field!
Outside of the classroom, the activities that I enjoy most are being a Jack Welch mentor, a Jack Welch Corporate Structure VP, and a member of the Sacred Heart University Choir. Being a mentor, I get to give back to the University by aiding in the transition and success of a group of freshmen. As the vice president of the Hospitality & Events Corporate Structure team, I have been able to gain valuable team leadership experience and skills for my future career. As a member of choir, I feel that I contribute to something much bigger, as all of our voices combine to become art.
If the donor of the William V. Roberti Scholarship was sitting across from me, I would express my deepest thanks. Because of your generosity, I am able to attend a wonderful school, and have the opportunities that I do. This kind gift has given me the ability to continue in pursuit of my dream. Thank you again for your investment in students like me and our education! I hope that one day I will also be able to help a student achieve his or her educational goals like you have helped me!"
