Patricia H. Cook Scholarship
About the Endowed Scholarship
The Patricia H. Cook Endowed Scholarship was created in 2010 in memory of Patricia Hemenway Cook, who made the quantum leap from Cabaret Theatre at Sacred Heart University to starring in "Evita" on Broadway and in the national touring company. In 2009, Patricia passed away at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT. She is the wife of C. Donald Cook, Athletic Director Emeritus of Sacred Heart University.

"SHU has opened so many doors for me to grow as a student, a leader, and an overall individual. I would love to be behind the camera one day, and be part of the filmmaking and creating process. I think that storytelling through an artistic lens has the incredible power of impacting the world. Most of my time outside of class is dedicated to the Theatre Arts Program. During my sophomore year, I was an Orientation Leader and Transition Mentor. I am also involved in BuildOn, a non-profit that focuses on breaking the cycle of poverty and illiteracy throughout the world. I have read about Patricia Cook, and am honored to be recognized in the name of such an accomplished, poised and incredibly talented individual. Coming from an Italian family, I have wanted to live in Italy since I was a little girl. Because of this generous gift, I can proudly say that I completed my Fall semester studying in Rome, Italy."

"I tell people all the time that attending Sacred Heart is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I look forward to coming to school every day. I hope to be an elementary school teacher or a special education teacher. My major is specifically designed to help prepare aspiring teachers for their careers as best as possible. The 5 year program I am a part of will allow me to receive my Masters in Teaching within a year of graduating with my Bachelors Degree. My theatre minor helps improve my public speaking skills. The theatre arts program club provides me with a creative outlet. Because of this gift, you have made my dream of educating our next generation of leaders that much more attainable."
