Major: Biology; Minor in Psychology

"Ever since move in day my freshman year I always felt so accepted by Sacred Heart and everyone here. This school offers such a welcoming environment and it truly made my transition to college much easier and enjoyable. I love the fact that it is a smaller school and you can always see a friendly face no matter what.

I am majoring in biology and minoring in psychology and chemistry, My goal is to become a genetic counselor. These majors and minors are helping me achieve this by not only giving me a strong background in science, but also teaching me the communication and mental skills I need by minoring in psychology.

I love how many activities and clubs SHU has to offer. I love the community service options they offer at SHU. Last semester I volunteered at the Discovery Museum and I met and worked with so many lovely people.

I cannot express how grateful I am for this award. This will help ease the financial burdens me and my family face and I feel so honored to have been chosen to be a recipient."

"There are many things I love about SHU, but my favorite is the community. The professors truly care about your well being and will provide you with all the materials to do well in your courses.  Meanwhile, the other students are really friendly and accepting. I also love how service is a core value here and many students to above and beyond to try and help others in the community.

I want to become a Physician Assistant and my Biology major has helped me work towards that goal in multiple ways. For example, many of the pre-requisites for a PA are also required for a Biology degree. I most enjoy community service. One of my favorite service events is SHU's annual Hunger Project.

I am honored to be one of the recipients of the George J. Voynick Scholarship. Thank you so very much for your generous support."
