Bette Pinder Memorial Scholarship
About the Endowed Scholarship
The Bette Pinder Memorial Scholarship was established in 1991 and was founded by members of the HR staff and Betty Carolan, wife of trustee Dr. Patrick Carolan and niece of Bette Pinder, a long-time employee in the Human Resources department. This scholarship supports incoming freshmen from the greater Bridgeport area who demonstrate financial need.

"SHU isn't just a regular university at which students can study and fulfill their degree - it's more than that. It is a home, a school, and a new adventure everyday. What I love most about SHU is the heartwarming welcome that the University brings, the openness to be who you want to be, and the compassion and love received from other colleagues. My professional goal is to work in the medical field. My major will help me accomplish this because it will prepare me for a graduate program to work in the career that I choose. The experience that I most enjoy is community service. This helps me become a better person and help others in many ways. Thank you for granting me a gift that will help fulfill my education, the education that will help fulfill my dreams! I'm so grateful to receive a gift that will not only help me in many ways, but will also help me achieve my goals.
