Amelia DePino Endowed Scholarship
The Amelia DePino Endowed Scholarship was established at Sacred Heart University in 2021 by her parents, family members and friends to honor Amelia’s generous soul, exceptional fortitude and boundless energy shown by her involvement in so many activities and causes she cared so deeply about.
Amelia arrived at Sacred Heart in August 2017 full of ambition and hope despite being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoma Leukemia during her senior year at North Haven High School (CT). She dreamt of becoming a pediatric nurse, a career pursuit inspired by her time volunteering in the Pediatric Care Unit at Yale New Haven Hospital.
Amelia wasted no time fully immersing herself in all that SHU had to offer despite the adversity she faced. She made the Dean’s List, pursued her passion for the performing arts by joining the Theatre Arts Program and lived her faith by becoming an alter server in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit.
Amelia left us far too soon in April of 2019 but not before she gave us a lifetime of inspiration and an everlasting reminder of what genuine friendship and goodness in people looks like.
This endowed scholarship will forever assist a promising nursing student at SHU that shares Amelia’s love for the performing arts.
