Why’d You Choose SHU?

I actually was a transfer student! I knew I needed a change to a smaller University that had a great student to teacher ratio and a solid career center with a beautiful campus. Sacred Heart was the perfect opportunity for me to explore that!

What Do You Do Now?

I work in Talent Management as a recruiter and run an internship program for software engineers at a NYC startup. Before that, I was an Admissions Counselor for one of the best universities in CT (cough cough). I truly enjoy working with people and young adults!

A Word of Advice to Current Underrepresented SHU Students?

Don’t be afraid to feel uncomfortable. Be open to uncomfortable conversations with friends (even if you’re the only underrepresented one), talk with people you wouldn’t typically associate yourself with, propose new ideas to your student body or join a club where you can share your perspective. Your thoughts are so important and it’s crucial to share that even if it feels a little uncomfortable. Discomfort shouldn’t always have a negative connotation. It’s just another way to look at doing something you’ve never done. Put yourself in situations where you might be outside of your comfort zone and let your goals drive you forward through the discomfort. That’s that sweet spot called growth, I believe in you!
