Why’d You Choose SHU?
I am all about what my mom would call ‘the feels.’ It means I can literally feel when something is right while experiencing the situation. It’s happened with small and big decisions, like picking what university I would attend. To be honest, Sacred Heart wasn’t one of my top choices, but I came to visit because I really didn’t have anything to lose. As soon as I pulled onto campus I knew that SHU was where I was supposed to be.
What Do You Do Now?
I am currently working at SHU in the University Advancement department. I am the Development and Alumni Engagement Coordinator and I get to work directly with alumni. I really love having the opportunity to connect with fellow Pioneers from all over the world and share a special bond over a place that has allowed us to grow into the people we are today.
Advice to Underrepresented SHU Students
Don’t ever let anyone define who you are as a person, even people who you think have your best interests in mind. You are in control of yourself. Use all the resources that SHU offers to turn yourself into the person you’ve always dreamed of being. Four years goes by in the blink of an eye, so take advantage of your time here. Be open to new things and try something unexpected. All the experiences you go through are part of the person you will turn out to be, so make them count!
