The Richard and Barbara Naclerio Faculty Scholars Program

About the Program

Made possible by the generosity of Richard J. and Barbara A. Naclerio, the Richard and Barbara Naclerio Faculty Scholars Program was created to support and facilitate the work of emerging academic leaders from among Sacred Heart University’s faculty.  The Naclerios share the University’s vision of cultivating academic excellence through innovative research endeavors.

Offering two (2) awards of $12,500 each over a one-year period, the Richard and Barbara Naclerio Faculty Scholars Program is open to all current junior, tenure-track faculty in good standing from across all disciplines who have successfully completed their 3rd year within the University, and have demonstrated their interest and capability in conducting scholarly research of benefit to the academic community and their field of study.  Each award will provide a supplement of $12,500 (provided in addition to salary) consisting of a $7,500 stipend and $5,000 to support allowable research and travel expenses.  The Program will commence at the start of the 2014-2015 academic year and support research conducted throughout the entire academic year.  The research conducted through this endeavor must result in a significant contribution being made to each faculty member’s field of study, with the goal of submitting outcomes generated for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.  The scholars selected must also be prepared to disseminate their findings through other potential forums within the University or through presentations at approved scholarly conferences – with proper attribution being made to the Richard and Barbara Naclerio Faculty Scholars Program.
