Available Positions:

Red's Pub Server

Red’s Pub Servers serve food and drinks to the University’s students and staff who visit the pub. The Servers will be T.I.P.S. certified as they are bartenders who serve beer and wine to the patrons who are of legal drinking age. The Servers at Red’s monitor Pub guests, and provide excellent customer service to the pub’s customers. The Red’s Pub Servers oversee events held within the Pub and maintain the cleanliness of the establishment.

DEPARTMENT: Student Union
REPORTS TO: Michael Moylan, Director of the Student Union and Erin Morgan, Graduate Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Serve beer & wine to patron of legal drinking age (if certified)
  • Take food & beverage orders & distribute accordingly
  • Monitor Pub area & its patrons
  • Set up & decorate pub for special events
  • Maintain cleanliness of Pub areas during operating hours & at the end of every shift
  • Other duties as requested

EXPECTED HOURS:

Based on the recommended allotted hours per week, the shifts are flexible and will be assigned to best fit the needs of the Red’s Pub availability.

  • Hours of Operation for Monday-Thursday: 4PM - 1AM
  • Hours of Operation for Friday: 3PM - 9PM
  • Hours of Operation for Saturdays & Sundays: Hours Vary

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This role will involve significant interaction with all members of the University community, which includes students, faculty, staff, and University guests. Persons in this position must:

  • Be responsible and professional individuals
  • Possess strong verbal and writing skills
  • Understand what it means to provide quality customer service
  • Have previous restaurant experience (preferred, but not required)
  • Be willing to be a member of an energetic team

Student Union Manager (SUM)

Student Union Managers are responsible for the general supervision of the Student Union facilities and all of the services it provides. They perform vital tasks in and out of the Student Union office including monitoring the Shuttle service, the Red’s Pub, and Hawley Lounge. They must have working knowledge of and enforce all Student Union, University, and State policies, procedures, and laws.

DEPARTMENT: Student Union
REPORTS TO: Michael Moylan, Director of the Student Union and Megan Kelly, Graduate Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Cover no-shows or late workers
  • Oversee ID Office Assistants
  • Provide additional support for special events
  • Attend weekly SUM meeting & mandatory training before start of every semester
  • Manage Sacred Heart Shuttle services, Hawley Lounge, & Red’s Pub
  • Perform rounds of the Main Academic Building and Red’s Pub during shift hours
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

EXPECTED HOURS:

Based on the recommended allotted hours per week, the shifts are scheduled to accommodate the students’ schedules and to best fit the needs of the Student Union.

  • Hours of Operation for Monday-Sunday: 6:30AM - 12:30AM

Student Union Office Manager

The Student Union Office Manager is responsible for the general supervision of the Student Union purchase orders and daily reconciliation of all cash bags and deposits. This team member also assists the management of the ID staff and the operation of the ID office. The SU Office Manager oversees office duties within the Student Union Office, greeting guests and answering questions, and other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Process daily cash reports and make cash & credit deposits for the Union’s business operations
  • Daily accounting/set up of area cash bags & duty reports
  • Manage Union purchase orders and process all invoices
  • Oversee inventory within the Union office
  • Create and disperse department nametags
  • Interview, hire, and train all ID Office Assistants
  • Handle scheduling of ID staff
  • Other duties as requested 

EXPECTED HOURS:

Based on the designated 15-20 hours per week, the Office Manager will schedule office hours in which he/she works in the Union during business hours.  Shifts will be scheduled to accommodate the student’s schedule and to best fit the needs of the Student Union Office.

  • Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday from 8AM - 5PM

Student Union Area Manager: Red's

The Red’s Area Manager serves dual duty, working as a Student Union Manager and overseeing both the operations and staff of the Red’s Pub operated by the Student Union. The Red’s Area Manager must have working knowledge of and enforce all Student Union, University, and State policies, procedures, and laws. The Red’s Area Manager will report directly to the Student Union Graduate Assistant and Director of the Student Union.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Coordinate the weekly scheduling of Red’s Pub staff
  • Facilitate weekly Red’s staff meetings with Graduate Assistant
  • Manage Red’s Pub & staff
  • Oversee product and inventory
  • Coordinate training of all SUM and Pub staff members
  • Act as liaison between Red’s Pub and Chartwells
  • Contribute to innovation of Pub facilities, operations, and programming
  • Promote staff morale and team dynamics
  • Assist in the promotion and programming of the Pub
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

EXPECTED HOURS: Area Managers work 20 hours per week, some of which will count as office hours worked in the Student Union during the regular work day. The shifts are flexible and will be scheduled to best fit the needs of the Student Union.
