Housing selection for students returning to SHU Housing for the 2013-2014 academic year takes place in the Spring 2013 semester. The following contains information about the process, forms, and other instructions to participate in this multi-faceted process.

Housing Information Meetings

All meetings take place in the Schine Auditorium unless otherwise noted

Students participating in the housing selection process are required to attend one of the sessions. All aspects of the housing selection process will be explained and staff are on hand to answer questions.

  • Tuesday February 26, 3:30 - 4:30PM

Housing Deposit

All undergraduate students interested in living in residential housing for the Fall 2013 semester are required to place a $500 deposit. The deposit is applied toward the Fall 2013 housing fee.

  1. A NONREFUNDABLE* lottery number deposit of $500 must be made to Student Accounts for housing by noon on March 1, 2013.  Note: Deposit payable by cash or check only. This is a separate charge and will not appear on your billing statement.

  2. The student’s financial account balance must be paid to date (i.e. paid in full OR current with the monthly payment plan upon receipt of the Housing Deposit.

IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHECK TO BE PROCESSED BY THE MARCH 2nd DEADLINE, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT IT BE MAILED NO LATER THAN February 25, 2013.

Please make check payable to SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY and be sure to indicate on the check “FOR HOUSING DEPOSIT” Mail to: Sacred Heart University c/o Student Accounts, 5151 Park Avenue, Fairfield, CT 06825.

The deposit is the student's official indication to the University that he/she is intending on living in University housing. It guarantees that they will have first priority for housing (over students who have not deposited), permits a student to be assigned into Pre-selection Housing or grants a student a valid lottery number if choosing through General Selection.  Students need to follow the housing selection process in order to secure a housing placement. A student who deposits late might not be afforded the same opportunities to participate in the selection process.

*The deposit is forfeited if you receive a lottery number and select a housing placement or housing is assigned to you for the Fall 2013 Semester through the selection process and you do NOT reside in SHU Housing during the fall for any reason, including choosing off-campus housing, being dismissed academically, or withdrawing from the institution. A student who does NOT chose housing nor is assigned into SHU housing through Pre-Selection or General Selection may opt to have the amount of their deposit applied to another portion of the student account.
