What to Bring?

The "Basics" - You Should Bring

  • Alarm clock                                                             
  • Desk lamp (not halogen)
  • Trash can/bags
  • Hangers
  • Personal toiletries (soap, shampoo, etc.)
  • Cleaning supplies for room
  • School supplies
  • Laundry supplies (basket, soap, etc.)
  • Money for textbooks
  • Pillow, sheets (standard twin - 75" length), comforter
  • Coaxial cable for TV
  • Calendar
  • Electrical Power Strip with Surge Protector
  • Food, cups, plates, etc. 

"Optional" - You May Want to Bring

  • Posters (and Fun Tack adhesive)
  • Sports equipment
  • Stationary items (stamps, envelopes, etc.)
  • Personal items (hair dryer, curling iron, etc.)
  • Approved Appliances (coffee maker, popcorn popper)
  • Basic tools (hammers, screwdriver, measuring tape, wrench)
  • TV, stereo, video games
  • Clothes iron and ironing board
  • Vacuum cleaner/dust buster
"Unacceptable" - Do NOT Bring
  • Upholstered furniture 24" in length or larger*
  • Microwave
  • Refrigerator of ANY size
  • Halogen lamps
  • Toaster oven or open burner cooking items
  • Alcohol and alcohol paraphernalia (bottle/can collection, boxes, etc.)
  • Drugs and drug paraphernalia
  • Pets (other than fish)
  • Candles and incense, firearms, fireworks, weapons, explosives, etc.
  • Cars (first-year students CANNOT have cars on campus)

*Furniture NOT permitted includes sofas, couches, love seats, sofa chair, futons, etc.  Permitted: desk chairs, video game rockers, all university provided furniture

Please have consideration for your roommate(s) and limit the quantity of items you bring in the Fall!
