Members of Active Minds work to raise awareness on the Sacred Heart community about issues of mental health, symptoms of mental illness and relevant resources available to students. Members of AYAA work hard to raise awareness for autism on campus, as well as in the Bridgeport and Fairfield communities. Additionally, the club promotes anti-bullying and open-mindedness as two of the major themes of their mission.

Best Buddies works to enhance the lives of those with intellectual disabilities. Through the club's efforts, they offer events on campus for our SHU students, create relationships, work to offer social engagements, play games, and provide an environment where all who are involved can interact with and learn from each other. They hosted the first annual Midnight Madness Treasure Hunt for Best Buddies International on the SHU campus in 2009. This event provided an entire day and night of fun for our SHU students and Best Buddies members.

The purpose of the Sacred Heart University Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is to assist with the local Bridgeport affiliate in constructing homes, raising funds, and increasing awareness of housing issues in the community. This group provides SHU students the opportunity to rebuild the lives of those in the community and host events on the SHU campus, such as Sleep Outs, building sheds, gingerbread house creations during the holidays, etc.

Sacred Heart Students-united as ONE-are a service club dedicated to making poverty history. The SHU chapter is working on the ground in our campus community, as well as in the Greater Bridgeport Area, to educate and ask America's leaders to increase efforts to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty. They have provided programs on campus, co-sponsored lectures with the Student Life Office, and many more. The ONE campaign seeks to raise awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease, and the efforts to fight such problems in developing countries. United as ONE, we can make a difference.

This club is committed to acting as a source of research and understanding for issues of peace and justice - economic and environmental.  Group members will educate themselves and their community on existing injustices, alternative methods to approaching these injustices, and discuss relevant examples of change while highlighting past and present justice leaders.
