Early Decision (ED) is for students who have visited and interviewed (there's still time to schedule your interview if you haven't yet) and have determined that SHU is their first choice. While Early Decision is a binding contract which commits students to enrolling upon admission, it's important to understand that SHU does not hold students to the contract if the family determines that enrollment is not financially feasible. Yet, there are many great benefits for students who are admitted in the ED program:
- ED students receive priority consideration for housing assignments.
- Decision letters are mailed to ED students on or before December 15th, allowing you to finalize your college plans early.
- A special reception for ED students takes place during the spring semester at which you'll meet our Career Development staff and get a jump start on utilizing the tools and resources that college freshmen typically access in order to determine their major/career choice or verify a decision they've already made. The reception is also a way to meet other ED students and current SHU students before even attending Orientation.
