Available Positions:

Campus Concierge Assistant

Campus Concierge runs the Student Union’s Campus Concierge, offering many different services to students, parents, faculty, and staff. They also assist with office duties within the Student Union office, greeting guests, answering the phones, filing and other duties as assigned.

Services Include: 

  • Supplying campus IDs
  • Providing information on daily events happening on Campus
  • Offers schedules and information about transportation (SHU Shuttles, GBT Transit, Long Island Ferry, Metro North, and Airport Shuttles)
  • Offers local recommendation sheets for stores, restaurants, and hotels
  • Offers to go menus to local restaurants
  • Offers Student Groups on campus a small conference to hold meetings
  • Discount Movie Tickets at Bow Tie Cinemas
  • Supply Rentals (lockers, tables, easels, games, etc.)
  • Vending machine refunds
  • Shuttle Trip signups
  • Lost IDs

DEPARTMENT: Student Union
REPORTS TO: Michael Moylan, Director of the Student Union and Megan Kelly, Graduate Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • General office duties (filing, copying, scanning, etc.)
  • Issue IDs for student, staff, and faculty as requested
  • Providing guests with anything they need at the Campus Concierge
  • Maintain Campus Concierge in an orderly fashion at all times
  • Manning and answering phones
  • Protect confidentiality when necessary
  • Other duties as requested

EXPECTED HOURS: Based on the recommended allotted hours per week, the shifts are flexible and will be assigned to best fit the needs of the ID Office availability. Hours of Operation for Monday-Friday: 8AM - 10PM. Hours of Operation for Saturday - Sunday: 10AM - 10PM.

Red's Pub Staff

Red's Pub Staff check IDs of all patrons at the University's on-campus pub. Red's Pub Staff work as bar backs, hosts/hostesses, and food expediters, while also monitoring the Pub's guests, and assisting in the execution of events held within the Pub.

DEPARTMENT: Student Union
REPORTS TO: Michael Moylan, Director of the Student Union and Erin Morgan, Graduate Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Monitor pub area & it's patrons
  • Check IDs using scanning equipment
  • Set up & decorate pub for events
  • Assist with the retrieval and distribution of customers' orders
  • Clean & maintain Pub while providing quality service
  • Assist the Graduate Assistant on duty at special events in the Pub
  • Other duties as requested

EXPECTED HOURS: Based on the recommended allotted hours per week, the shifts will be scheduled to accommodate the student's schedule and to best fit the needs of Red's Pub.  Hours of operation for Monday - Thursday: 9PM - 12AM. Hours of operation for Friday: 3PM - 9PM. Hours of operation for Saturday & Sunday: Hours vary.

Secret Rider

The Secret Riders play an integral role in the operation and maintenance of the Student Union's shuttle service by monitoring the execution of the shuttle service from a student's perspective. These staff members are assigned various routes to ride throughout the week and will report any issues or concerns to the Student Union professional staff members.

REPORTS TO: Michael Moylan, Director of the Student Union and Megan Kelly, Graduate Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Completing weekly assignments as scheduled
  • Reporting any issues/concerns to Student Union professional staff via Ride Report
  • Other duties as requested

EXPECTED HOURS: Secret Riders will work 4 hours a week at various times of the day. The student's schedule will be taken into account when scheduling assignments.
