POSITION TITLE: Media Services Work-Study Date: Sept 2013 - May 2014
DIVISION: Finance & Administration
DEPARTMENT: Media Services
REPORTS TO:  Tom Naclerio, Digital Media Specialist, Information Technology
The Media Services Department provides and maintains a multitude of services to the entire University community. Services offered include tape/media duplication, taping of University events, streaming media services, as well as any additional requests pertaining to media within the academic pedagogy.  The Media Services Work-Study position is an excellent opportunity for students to gain production expereince supporting the media needs of the campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

The Media Services Department has work-study opportunities with the following criteria:

1.  Live production of various campus events 
  • University events
  • Classroom sessions
  • Colloquia series presentations
  • Additional support for special events as requested 
2.  Post Production of taped events and some minor video editing 
  • Exporting edited video to various formats and media
  • Uploaded and/or transferring media to different video services
  • Utilizing Final Cut Studio or Adobe Creative Suite software 
3.  Graphic design
  • Design and distributing files for SHU's Merchant of the Month 
  • Template creation for Digital Signage 
  • Adhering to the campus standard for branding consistency 
  • Assist in updating content on Digital Signage monitors throughout campus

4.  Making calls to vendors for technical support needs

5.  Media duplication within full complicance to the University's copyright policy (as requested)

6. Classroom Lecture Capture Level 1 support

7.  General office work as assigned

8.  Other duties deemed appropriate by the Media Services Department

Hours vary based on event coverage and department needs. Media Services with work with the students schedule. Daytime hours typical. Job may require evenings and as occasional weekend (as needed). FLEXIBILITY AND DEPENDABILITY A MUST.
We are willing to work with any level college student.  Prefered majors for the position include Media Studies & Communications and Information Technology. The job demands a responsible, self-starter with the ability to work independently and the ability to troubleshoot issues on the fly. Use of email for official correspondence REQUIRED.

Media Service Preferred Skills:
  • Non-Linear Editing (Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere) 
  • Basic field and studio productioon knowledge (Camera, Audio, Lighting) 
  • Creative and visual 
  • Technically savvy and resourceful
  • Highly organized
