Men's Basketball Team Manager

The Men's Basketball Team Manager is an excellent opportunity for any student who is granted and is interested in working in the field of intercollegiate athletics. Students in this position will work closely with the coaching staff and players and will be intimately involved in various day-to-day aspects of the Men's Basketball Program.

EXPECTED HOURS: Practice is daily from 11AM- 2PM and managers are expected to attend as many practices as possible. Other hours are flexible and will vary depending on our game and travel schedule.

Women's Basketball Team Manager | POSITION FILLED

Video Director - Men's Ice Hockey | POSITION FILLED
This position is perfect for any student with an interest in film and media studies, as well as sports, particularly ice hockey. It is an active and involved work-opportunity that will look excellent on a resume. Students in this position are responsible for filming home and away hockey games, recording games on DVD, and some editing.

Computer Software Input Director - Men's Ice Hockey | POSITION FILLED

Students in this position are responsible for assisting the Head Equipment Manager in day-to-day operations and duties to meet equipment needs for University varsity athletic teams.

  • Assisting Head Equipment Manager and equipment room staff in accomplishing day-to-day responsibilities of the athletic equipment room including filing and data entry, laundry, uniform and equipment distribution, packing equipment and uniforms for both home and away events, and receiving and conducting inventory of goods
  • Will also involve work in and around the men and women's locker rooms and field areas
  • May involve some work around home games, which are typically played on weekday afternoons and nights
  • May also include occasional weekend work (days and nights)
  • Other duties as requested

EXPECTED HOURS: All hours are based on the student’s work study allotment. Semester and weekly schedules are created with the student to ensure there are no conflicts with class or holiday travel schedules, but also to ensure there is appropriate equipment room coverage. Support is sometimes needed during games, which are played on weekday afternoons and nights; also may include weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) both during the day and on Friday and Saturday nights. Hours can also be fulfilled over holiday, winter and spring breaks and anytime home games are scheduled. All hours are scheduled and agreed to ahead of time for the planning purposes of both the student and the equipment room staff.

Football Filmer

 This position will have the chance to assist the film department of SHU football by filming and assisting with video operations.

Success Center Ambassador | POSITION FILLED
This is a great opportunity for any student awarded work-study. We are looking for interested students to join our team and play an important role within the new Student-Athlete Success Center. The student worker’s main role will be to greet student-athletes and other visitors to the center and provide accurate information as needed. The student worker will assist in the following areas: event planning; marketing and implementation of educational, community service, and personal health and wellness events; workshops for the Student-Athlete Support Services department. Those in this position will assist and support the Student Athletic Support Services Office in working towards departmental goals, as well as with daily administrative tasks, which may include reports, filing, faxing, organizing, copying, etc.

Event Management/Game Day Operations

This is the perfect fit for students with an interest in sports, University Athletics, hospitality, and sport management majors. Students in this position will assist the Director of Promotions, Game Day Operations, and Event Management with game day management as well as the set-up and tear down of all University athletic events.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Sale of tickets and Game Programs.
  • Ushering, field/court security.
  • Promotions Staff
  • Field/court and hospitality area set-up and clean-up.
  • Field Staff (Ball persons, etc.).
  • Weekday afternoons and nights as well as weekend availability.
  • Customer Service
  • Other duties as needed.

EXPECTED HOURS: Games are played on weekday afternoons and nights; also includes weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) both during the day and on Friday and Saturday nights. Can involve inclement weather. Typical time commitments: non-gate admission sports-3.5 hours, most gate admission sports-4 hours, and football-6 hours. Hours can also be fulfilled over holidays and when home games are scheduled over winter and spring breaks. Semester and weekly schedules are created with the student to ensure there are no conflicts with class or holiday travel schedules.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: This job involves significant interaction with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents of Sacred Heart University, along with many fans from the surrounding community and supporters of our visiting teams. Students working in this position will be expected to be enthusiastic, courteous, hard-working, knowledgeable about the facility and event they are working and ambassadors representing the Department of Athletics and Sacred Heart University in a positive manner.

Game Day Ticket Operations

The student will be responsible for selling tickets prior to the game and during the game using out Glitnir Ticketing Software. Also, the students will be scanning and ripping tickets, while keeping track how many people have attended the game. Finally, the ticket operations work studies will be in charge of the player pass list and distributing will call tickets. Other Marketing duties as needed.

  • Work well with other Work Study students and be able to greet customers in a find fashion
  • Must be able to sit or stand for a long period of time
  • Must be able to handle and count money
  • Great Customer Service Skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs

Women's Volleyball Assistant Game Day Manager | POSITION FILLED

Help set up and break down all equipment for the home matches in the Pitt Center. Organizes the game day promotions and sets up all necessary items for the promotion. Work with our Team Manager at all events.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Setting up and taking down the nets, referee stand, camera, promotion table, snack bar
  • Organizes all game day promotion giveaways
  • Greets fans as they enter the gym and hands out the giveaway

EXPECTED HOURS: Fridays and Saturdays times vary (at least 2 hours before the start of the match).

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Enthusiastic to help out our team and program. We'd love all our work studies to be outgoing if possible but of course there is always a learning curve.  I'd like our work-study to take initiative and not have to rely on directions always given out especially as the season goes on.  I'm hoping to lean a little on the work-study to get game day ready without me always needing to be there watching.

Women's Swimming & Diving Team Manager | POSITION FILLED

Team manager is an excellent opportunity for any students who are granted work-study and are interested in working in the field of intercollegiate athletics.  Students in this position will work closely with the coaching staff and athletes and will be intimately involved in various day-to-day aspects of the Women's Swimming & Diving Program.

REPORTS TO: Molly Chamberlain

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Data entry/office work
  • Operational tasks as needed
  • Assist with office work and statistics
  • Videotape home swim meets
  • Assist with home meet set up and clean up operations (transportation will be provided)

EXPECTED HOURS: Based on class schedule. 2 home swim & dive meets from the hours of 10:15 - 3:00 on Saturday Oct 28 and Sunday January 21st.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a responsible and reliable student with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Positive and resourceful nature
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Some audio visual experience preferred
  • Some swimming or diving knowledge preferred but not necessary

Strength and Conditioning Work Study

This position will help with the dail maintenance and cleaning of the strength and conditioning facility, as well as, general office work and data entry.
