Video/New Media Assistant

Think you want to work for ESPN one day? This is a great place to start! The Athletic Communications Office is looking for students interested in working in athletics to assist with video production projects and new media initiatives. Work-study students play an integral role in the live video production of game events as well as assisting with weekly production of content for the athletic department’s website and social media. Applicants with a desire to pursue a career in athletic/sports related field with a background in media studies are encouraged to apply. The Athletic Communication staff will provide all the training necessary for the position.

DEPARTMENT: Athletic Communications
REPORTS TO: Mike Haase

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Athletic Communications staff with video production including live event broadcasts and weekly website video shoots
  • Pre game set up and post game break down of all video equipment
  • Work on producing weekly video content for the athletics website, assisting with interviews of coaches and student-athletes and editing game highlights
  • Assist with building a video archive of past live events and content

EXPECTED HOURS: Hours per week are determined based on work-study award amounts. Students will work with our Assistant Director to schedule hours. Students are expected to work nights and weekends as determined by Sacred Heart athletic events. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires responsible and professional students with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Working knowledge of video equipment and video editing software a plus
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a deadline oriented environment
  • Positive and resourceful nature

Game Day Assistant

The Athletic Communications Office is looking for students interested in working in athletics to assist with game event management for sports information.  Work-study students play an integral role in game day operations. Applicants with a desire to pursue a career in athletic/sports related field encouraged to apply. The Athletic Communication staff will provide all the training necessary for the position.

DEPARTMENT: Athletic Communications
REPORTS TO: Mike Haase

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Athletic Communications staff with game day operations during Sacred Heart athletic events
  • Game day operations can include assisting with site set up and break down, statistical record keeping, managing game clock and official scoring areas, score/statistical reporting to media members
  • Some work with video production including live event broadcasts
  • General office duties as assigned
