Outside Scholarships

It is important that students research outside sources of financial aid whether it be civic organizations, corporations, or within their high school. The websites listed below give a snapshot of requirements, contact information, and scholarship amounts. Although these sites are recommended, we ask that students use their own discretion when sharing any personal information.

Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant Program

  • $1,000 maximum award

Requirements

  • Emergency grants are available to eligible veterans who have experienced unexpected financial difficulties that might cause them to drop out from school
  • Applicant must be an honorably-discharged veteran or a spouse of a disabled veteran who has served in the United States military, including the Reserves and National Guard, and have received a Certificate of Eligibility from the Department of Veterans Affairs or another document of service
  • Applicant must use any military education benefits for which they are eligible
  • Applicant must submit a FAFSA and be determined PELL-eligible
  • Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5

Nursing Schools Almanac RN-to-BSN Scholarship

  • $2,500 Award
  • Apply by December 31, 2017

Requirements

  • Applicant must demonstrate prior academic excellence in a pre-licensure RN program
  • Applicant must demonstrate passion for leadership in nursing and the overall field of healthcare
  • Applicant must submit essay (500-word maximum) explaining why they are passionate about earning their BSN and how they will take a leadership role in healthcare upon graduation

  • Applicant must submit 250-500 word essay on the following topic: How does video enhance the user experience on a webpage? Discuss your ideas on the subject with regard to the user experience and level of engagement. You may want to discuss the benefits for non-English speaking audiences, and for users with learning difficulties. What are the benefits of hearing information, as opposed to reading information on a screen?

Requirements

  • Applicant must be a legal U.S. resident
  • Applicants are challenged to create a visual entry, whether it is a photograph, collage, painting, illustration, poem, short story—any single piece that demonstrates what they would like to do in their personal and professional life after college. Applicants are asked to follow the theme: This is how I Frame my Future.

  • Applicant must be an exceptionally innovative and creative high school junior, senior, or college freshmen
