Tomoko Yamashita Memorial Scholarship
Award Amount: $1,000 - $3,000 (to be distributed over the course of two semesters)
Number of Scholarships awarded: 1-3 (depending on number and quality of applicants)

Created to honor the memory of Tomoko Yamashita, a University College student who studied graphic design, this endowed scholarship is awarded to part-time students who have transferred to Sacred Heart University from a Connecticut Community College. The ideal candidate should demonstrate financial need above and beyond what is covered by Financial Aid and Pell Grants. Special preference will be given to Art & Design majors, but students of all different majors are encouraged to apply.
  • Requires a minimum GPA of 3.3 or higher during time of application
  • Part-time student enrolled in at least six credits
  • Student must have transferred to Sacred Heart University from a Connecticut Community College

Fairfield Lifelong Learners Scholarship
Award Amount: $1,000 (to be distributed over the course of two semesters)
Number of Scholarships Awarded: Varies

The Fairfield Lifelong Learners Scholarship recognizes the hard work and efforts of 21st-Century Adult Learners at Sacred Heart University. The ideal candidate is a mature adult student who is either attending college for the first time, or returning to college to complete studies that had been previously interrupted. Candidates should demonstrate financial need above and beyond what is covered by Financial Aid and Pell Grants.
  • Requires a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Part-time student enrolled in at least six credits
  • Fairfield Lifelong Learners Scholarships may also be awarded at the discretion of the Dean of University College and University College advisors based on the needs and accomplishments of specific students.

Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship
Award Amount: $2,200 (per academic year)
Number of Scholarships awarded: Varies; no more than two students may be nominated annually per each Alpha Sigma Lambda chapter

The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society Scholarship recognizes the accomplishments and academic achievement of adult students who also balance busy lives and lifestyles outside of the classroom. The ideal candidate for this scholarship is a part-time adult student, who in addition to attending courses at Sacred Heart University, also works full-time and/or is raising a family.

  • Requires a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher during time of application
  • Part-time students registered for at least six credits
  • Students must have successfully accomplished a minimum of 30 semester hours (done institutionally at Sacred Heart University, not transfer credits)
To apply, interested students must be nominated by a University College advisor. In order to be nominated, applicants must first complete the student packet, obtain a letter of recommendation from a faculty member, and request an official transcript. Applications and all documents must be submitted by April 30 to:

Harold & Ann Miller Scholarship

Number of Scholarships Awarded: Varies

Established in 1988, this scholarship recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of part-time, adult students pursuing a degree at Sacred Heart University. The ideal candidate is a student currently enrolled at Sacred Heart University, who has already completed at least two semesters institutionally.
