The effective use of financial information is vital for decision makers in business, industry, banking, government, education, law and many related fields.

In the four major areas of financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, and taxation, you will:

  • Understand professional and regulatory requirements
  • Understand accounting concepts, principles, and theories 
  • Understand the various professional codes of ethics and current ethical issues
  • Understand internal accounting systems, controls, and reports for decision-making purposes
  • Understand how to use the concepts in practical applications and analyze the results
  • Develop an awareness of the career and graduate school opportunities available in the field of accounting, especially the requirements for the CPA, CMA, and CIA designations

Are there special admission requirements?

No, we have an open admission policy. Incoming first-year students and transfer students may declare the Accounting & Information Systems major when you apply for admission to Sacred Heart University.
