Greetings! On behalf of the John F. Welch College of Business, I am excited to welcome our business students to the Welch Experience. This comprehensive new program is designed to provide our students with enhanced academic and co-curricular growth, giving a better approach to critical thinking, career knowledge, and professional development.
That means we’re here to build a better you. This program will challenge you to become the influential and successful business leaders of our future. You will be required to participate in at least one internship, guaranteeing job experience that is much-needed upon graduation. We are also introducing an E-portfolio that will track your progress and involvement as a student, house your projects, resume, and other information that prospective employers can review.
Most importantly, this program will provide you with many mentoring opportunities. Freshmen and Sophomores are paired with student and alumni mentors, while Juniors and Seniors—who continue to network with their mentors—take on new mentoring responsibilities of their own.
A word of advice: Participate. Our faculty, staff, student and alumni mentors, as well as successful professionals in diverse business fields have all worked hard to bring valuable, developmental experiences, expertise, and knowledge to you.
You should join us in our Conversations with prominent business professionals. You should expand your horizons with study abroad. You should join us on the golf course. You should join us for a mock interview. You should join us at Coffeehouses and alumni social events. You should mentor and be mentored.
These opportunities and many more are just the beginning. The students who approach the Welch Experience with a positive attitude will be building a skill set (and a résumé) that prepares them for the steps following college.
I know our talented faculty and staff are looking forward to working with each of you. Please feel free to check our website for updates throughout the year, or better yet, stop in and see us in person!
Sincerely,
Sean Heffron
