Career Outlook

“The SHU HR Master’s Program is designed to meet the needs of today’s Human Resource job market which integrates the function into the core Business strategy of companies. In this new role, analytic and strategic business skills are critical to success.”
--Dr. Leanna Lawter, Director of SHU HRM Master’s Program

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts employment in the human resource field to grow in the next decade.  Money Magazine and Salary.com surveys predict a growth of 32,000 (new) annual job positions, and rate human resource management as one of the top five professions in the U.S. in salary and job prospects.

Human Resource executives with graduate degrees will be best situated to meet this expanding market. Our M.S. in Human Resource Management includes and goes beyond the traditional areas of HR study; it offers students the opportunity to develop business skills in strategic planning, analysis and finance, thereby enabling them to fully seize the opportunity of this growing demand.

Students can benefit from our relationship with The Society for Human Resource and Management (SHRM).  SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management.  Representing more than 250,000 individual members in more than 140 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. With SHRM affiliation, our students and graduates will have the opportunity to attend seminars, conferences, join online community platforms and become part of a network of highly respected human resource professionals.

Furthermore, our students may apply their degree credits to satisfy SHRM requirements for certifications or recertification in Professional Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and Global Professional In Human Resources (GPHR).
