Minor in Global Business Management (GBM)

The Welch College of Business Minor in Global Business Management (GBM) prepares students for working and competing in today’s global economy. The minor is designed for Business and Management majors, as well as Global Studies and Political Science majors with a career interest in international business. The knowledge and skills developed from this minor enhance your business education in SHU and your future competitiveness in the job market.

Career Outlook

In order to function effectively as managers or employees in many organizations, business professionals need to have a deep understanding of how the global environment affects their organizations and their career developments. They also need to develop the global mindset and cross-cultural knowledge and skills for dealing with challenges arising from the complex global environment. By studying international business on the main campus and overseas, students will be more ready for developing a specialized career related to international business in their functional areas, such as international marketing, international finance, international accounting, international human resources management, and global supply chain management. Professionals working in these career tracks not only experience job security through a growing global business market, but also have more opportunities for traveling, relocation as an expatriate and other cross-cultural experiences far beyond the normal scope of employment.

Special Learning Experiences

Students studying in the Global Business Management minor at WCOB will be offered some special study-abroad opportunities such as taking courses on our Luxembourg campus, doing internships in Tianjin, China and participating in study tours of China. These unique experiences enable students to deepen their understanding of different cultures and the business environments of other countries.
