Peter Ward | Controller, Sacred Heart University
Peter Ward joined Sacred Heart University as the Controller 2008. He is responsible for the financial infrastructure in all areas of accounting, including Auditing, Tax, and Financial Reporting. Most recently, he led the financial transition in the University’s Acquisition of the Great River Golf Club.
Prior to joining Sacred Heart he worked in Corporate Accounting as a Division Controller for the Northeast Division of Compass Group, USA located in Middletown, CT. He started working there as an Assistant Controller in 1995; prior to that he worked for a small/medium sized Certified Public Accounting Firm; located in his hometown of Cheshire, CT; and he started his career right out of College at one of the National Accounting Firms KPMG in their Stamford, CT location.
Doug Boothroyd, MBA | Manager of U.S. Government Compliance, Sikorsky Aircraft
Mr. Boothroyd is currently a Manager of U.S. Government Compliance at Sikorsky Aircraft. His experience includes government contract compliance, management, accounting, and financial planning & analysis for large aerospace & defense manufacturing companies.
Mr. Boothroyd’s specialties are finance & accounting management, government contracts, financial planning & analysis, proposals, audits, negotiations, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), DCMA, DCAA, efficiency improvements.
Mr. Boothroyd holds a BS in Finance from the University of Connecticut and an MBA from the University of Bridgeport.

Experience includes; BB finance, Planning and Controllers. Within Controllers: Financial & Management reporting, Overheads, Compliance, Insurance, Cash management & Marketing services processes over the years.
Prior to Unilever, I worked in Audit for EY.
I am married 29 years and have three boys, James (22), John (19) & Kevin (14). I enjoy time with my family, travel, working in the yard and fishing.
Christine M. Oliver | Partner, Deloitte & Touche LLP
Christine is an audit partner based in Deloitte’s Stamford office. She brings 24 years of experience providing audit and advisory services to several of Deloitte’s largest multinational clients, both public and privately held, across a number of industries, including media and entertainment, technology and manufacturing. Christine has managed client service teams in more than 20 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, China and Japan. Her experience includes U.S. GAAP, IFRS and SEC reporting and significant experience advising clients on a diverse range of transactions, including public equity and debt offerings, spin-offs, acquisitions and divestitures. She is also an industry resource within the firm supporting a number of M&A due diligence engagements.
As the lead client service and lead audit partner for her clients, Christine delivers high quality, well-coordinated integrated audit services tailored to emerging and relevant issues. Christine’s approach to client service is very hands on and takes into account the balance of serving management, the audit committee and the shareholders with distinction. Christine currently serves as the lead client service and signing partner for the Media General and World Wrestling Entertainment and has served other clients such as The Hearst Corporation, The New York Times, A&E Television Network and Westcon Group Inc.
Christine has been involved in several of Deloitte’s most important initiatives, including being a local office leader for the Deloitte’s Women’s Initiative from 2004 through 2010.
Mr. Michael Puglia, M.S. | CPA, Internal Revenue Service
Michael Puglia has been with the Internal Revenue Service since 1984. His current role is a Team Manager in the Large Business and International Division. He holds degrees in foreign languages and education. He earned his teaching certificate at the University of Connecticut and taught Spanish, French and Italian at the high school level for a number of years. Subsequently, he fulfilled his requirements in accounting at the University of New Haven and in 1986 earned the Master of Science Degree in Accounting. He has held the CPA certificate in Connecticut since 1996.
His career with the Service has been equally varied and diverse. He was a domestic agent for five years and in 1989 he became an International Examiner. He continued to pursue new endeavors and because of the rapid growth in the financial products area, he realized the need to combine expertise in the international and financial products fields. He volunteered for financial products training so that he could develop international issues requiring the application of financial products expertise.
Within the IRS, Michael Puglia has been a classroom instructor to various Revenue Agent and International Training Phases. Additionally he has been a frequent speaker at both International and Financial Products Regional CPEs with topics ranging from “Taxation of Captive Insurance Companies” and “International Mergers and Acquisitions” to “Synergies of Code Sections 446 & 482”
