Karen Christensen, Ph.D.
Associate Professor/Director of Griswold Campus
The Eastern location is located within the district education complex in Griswold, Connecticut and offers Teacher Certification (elementary and secondary), Graduate Internship, Master of Arts in Teaching and Administrative Certification/Sixth Year Degree programs. The Griswold location has a long-standing commitment to educators and aspiring educators in eastern Connecticut, and to the many schools whose teachers and school administrators found their professional “voice” through Sacred Heart. Dr. Christensen has held the position at Griswold since 1995 where she administrates, advises and teaches within the program that has grown appreciably in the last 15 years. She serves on many committees within the university community both in Fairfield and Griswold.
Dr. Christensen brings rich and varied science experiences to the position at SHU enabling her to guide graduate candidates toward a wide spectrum of science based projects and capstone assignments, which enhance the curriculum. In addition Dr. Christensen is active in school-based and community-based science programming in the area of earth science.
A lifelong resident of Connecticut, Dr. Christensen continues to widen her experience base by participating in higher education, ecological, geological and varied scientific colloquia, conferences and organizations as a member and presenter.
