Lilly Fellows Network Exchange for The Human Journey

Sacred Heart University’s signature Core- The Human Journey was awarded a prestigious Lilly Fellows Grant to host a three day conference showcasing The Human Journey Core and bringing together administrators and faculty from faith-based colleges and universities to discuss curriculum and pedagogy for  the 21st century. Lilly Fellows Director, Joe Creech stated “While our typical Network Exchange draws 10-15 participants, Sacred Heart University  hosted an unprecedented number of participants—55-60 faculty and administrators.” Attendees  represented institutions including Pepperdine University, Baylor University, St. Louis University, Boston College, Salve Regina, Hope College, Biola University, Concordia University and many more. Michelle Loris, associate dean in the University’s College of Arts and Sciences wrote  the grant and directed the three day conference which included feature speaker Fr. David Tracy, Greeley Distinguished Professor Emeritus of  Catholic Studies at the University of Chicago. Loris stated she received very positive feedback from attendees about the conference: “our guests were impressed with our Human Journey Core and how we engage students in a multidisciplinary understanding of the arts and sciences and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition.”
