Faculty and students from the above complement of academic programs allow the College to implement several Centers of Excellence which enrich our academic programs, enhance our global, national, and regional reputation and provide opportunities to carry out the scholarship, community outreach, and service aspects of its mission.
The Centers are:
Center for Urban Education – focus on responding to issues in pre-K-12 education in urban areas; to prepare and encourage teacher candidates for careers in urban areas.
Center for Nursing Excellence - To promote excellence in nursing through leadership, evidence, innovation, and collaboration.
Center for Health and Wellness Promotion - To promote health and wellness in populations throughout the life span that relate to leading indicators of health (e.g. SHU/St. Charles Health and Wellness Center; Successful Aging forums, Fairfield Firefighters wellness program, SHU employee wellness program).
Center for Innovative Teaching and Practice – focus on in-service development for professional educators with special emphasis on literacy, technology, science, math, and social sciences in pre-K-12; focus on development of health professions educators as scholars and practitioners.
