The Occupational Therapy Program at Sacred Heart University requires students to have a solid background in the liberal arts and foundational physical and social sciences.

Only prerequisite courses grades of C or better meet the requirements. As of Fall 2019 entry, only one prerequisite course may be retaken at one time. Prerequisite courses in Statistics and Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II must have been completed within the past five years.

  • Biology I with lab 4 CR)
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II with lab 8 CR
  • A Psychology course 3 CR
  • Abnormal psychology 3 CR
  • Life Span Development or Developmental Psychology (Must include the study of the entire life-span, from birth to old age) 3 – 9 CR
  • Sociology/Anthropology/Social Psychology/Diversity/Multicultural 3 CR
  • Statistics/Psychological Statistics/Biostatistics (Must include descriptive statistics, probability, confidence intervals, correlation and hypothesis testing) 3 CR

High school level advanced placement courses do not meet prerequisite courses.  Only courses with a grade that appears on an accredited college or university ‌transcript will be considered to meet the prerequisite requirements. Work or experiential learning will not meet prerequisite requirements.
