Application Deadlines for Fall Enrollment

  • October 31st for early decision or the date published by the Office of Graduate Admissions
  • December 15th for regular admission or the date published by the Office of Graduate Admissions

If applying through OTCAS, please allow two months for the Graduate Admissions Office to receive your verified application.

Early Application Options

Early Provisional Decision is for entering freshman and Early Program Decision is for senior level students who meet all the Program’s GPA and admission requirements as outlined below.

Option One: Entering Freshman: EARLY PROVISIONAL DECISION
Early Provisional Decision Option requirements for entering freshman include:

  • successful completion of four years of Science
  • high school GPA of 3.2 or higher in academic courses (Math, Science, History, English and Language);
  • SAT scores of 1080 or higher;

Entering Freshman who meet Early Provisional Decision criteria will have a seat reserved in the graduate Occupational Therapy program contingent upon:

  • successful completion of all prerequisite courses with a 3.2 prerequisite course GPA with no individual prerequisite course grade below a "C"
  • successful completion of the baccalaureate degree
  • maintenance of an 3.0 undergraduate, cumulative GPA
  • maintenance of a 3.0  prerequisite science GPA with no individual prerequisite science course grade below a “C” (Biology with lab, Human Anatomy I and II with lab)
  • completion of a graduate admission application by October 31st or January 15 or date published by Graduate Admissions of their Senior year
  • an interview with the Occupational Therapy Admissions Committee which includes a problem-based learning experience.

Option Two: Senior Year, Fall Term: EARLY PROGRAM DECISION OPTION
For Sacred Heart University senior level undergraduate students and for external students who meet specified criteria, there is an opportunity to apply for Early Program Decision. Early Decision applicants must have completed the following prerequisites with final grades entered with their College or University's Registrar to receive an early decision interview:

  • Biology with Lab
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab
  • Statistics
  • Psychology
  • and one additional prerequisite course

The application deadline is October 31 or the deadline published by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Criteria for early decision application include all of the following:

  • successful completion of the baccalaureate degree, and
  • maintenance of an 3.0 undergraduate, cumulative GPA, and
  • successful completion of all prerequisite courses with a 3.2 prerequisite GPA and no individual prerequisite course grade below a “C”, and
  • maintenance of a 3.0  prerequisite science GPA with no individual prerequisite science course grade below a “C” (Biology with lab, Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II with lab), and
  • successful interview with the Occupational Therapy Admissions Committee, which includes a problem-based learning or role-play experience, and
  • relevant shadowing or volunteer experience in occupational therapy, and
  • completion of a graduate admission application by October 31st of their Senior year

Applicants who meet Early Program Decision criteria will have a seat in the Occupational Therapy Program contingent upon completion of all admission and GPA requirements. 

Option 3: Senior Year, Spring Term: REGULAR APPLICATION OPTION
For students who do not wish to apply for Early Program Decision or who do not meet the criteria, the application deadline is December 15 or the date published by Graduate Admissions for the incoming fall class.  All applicants must have completed the following prerequisites with final grades entered with their College or University’s Registrar by the time of the interview in order for the Admissions Committee to make a decision regarding program acceptance:

  • Biology with lab
  • Human Anatomy I with lab
  • Statistics
  • Psychology
  • One additional prerequisite

Requirements for Regular Decision Options include:

  • successful completion of the baccalaureate degree, and
  • maintenance of an 3.0 undergraduate, cumulative GPA, and
  • successful completion of all prerequisite courses with a 3.2 prerequisite GPA and no individual prerequisite course grade below a “C”, and
  • maintenance of a 3.0  prerequisite science GPA with no individual prerequisite science course grade below a “C” (Biology with lab, Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II with lab), and
  • successful interview with the Occupational Therapy Admissions Committee, which includes a problem-based learning or role-play experience, and
  • relevant shadowing or volunteer experience in occupational therapy, and
  • completion of a graduate admission application by October 31st of their Senior year

Offers of acceptance contingent upon completion of all admission and GPA requirements prior to fall enrollment.
