February 15 priority deadline. After February 15, applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are completed until the cohort is filled.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Two letters of recommendation with forms completed by student. All letters of recommendation must be accompanied by a form. Failure to do so will delay the review process.
  • Resume
  • Personal statement outlining why you are pursuing the MSW program at SHU
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
  • Non-refundable application fee
  • Interview with social work faculty

International Students
The same admission requirements as above in addition to the following:

  • Copy of passport
  • Bank statement/affidavit of support
  • English language proficiency exam (TOEFL/IELTS) with a minimum TOEFL requirement of 93 or minimum IELTS requirement of 7.0

Advanced Standing

The deadline for Fall 2018 has been extended to JANUARY 2. Complete your application today!

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited institution within the last six years
  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Overall social work GPA of 3.0 or higher with no less than a B in each course
  • Two letters of recommendation with forms completed by student. All letters of recommendation must be accompanied by a form. Failure to do so will delay the review process.

  • Personal statement outlining why you are pursuing the MSW program at SHU
  • Field evaluation form(s) from all field placements. This form should have been completed by the applicant's BSW field placement supervisor(s) after completing each field placement in their BSW program. It was likely provided to their BSW program director, field coordinator/director, academic advisor, or field liaison. Applicants may need to contact their BSW program department for this information.
  • Program evaluation form. Applicants will print a copy of this form and provide it to their BSW program director or designee (e.g., academic advisor, field liaison, etc.) for completion.
  • Official transcripts from all previously attended institutions
