James Castonguay, Ph.D.

Dr. James Castonguay has been with the School of Communication and Media Arts since 1999. He has been interviewed, quoted or had his research mentioned in media outlets like the New Yorker, Business Week, Broadcasting & Cable, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, the Boston Herald, the St. Petersburg Times, the Connecticut Post, Editor & Publisher, the Reuters and Xinhau news services, as well as CNN, Fox News, and the BBC.
Dr. Castonguay serves on the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Educational Services Foundation, and is the Treasurer of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies, the leading international academic organization devoted to the study of film and media. Dr. Castonguay is a contributing writer to the human rights magazine, Witness, and was on the Communication Studies and Film and Video Studies faculty at the University of Michigan before joining Sacred Heart. He served as the SCMA Coordinator and Chair for over a decade, and currently is the Director of the SCMA graduate programs in corporate communication, public relations, journalism, broadcasting, film and digital media.
